Fun Phrases Abusers Use, Interpreted.

Image (proudly this week) by author.

Taking a break this week, but would I let my favorite readers down without posting? I make a sincere effort not to. This week’s post is dedicated to you legends more than usual. So please enjoy my Top Ten Phrases Abusers use with my responses.

“My daddy whipped me harder than this.” (You’re a marvel of restraint.)

“I’m just telling you what you don’t want to hear.” (Well, that’s not a nice thing to do. I didn’t bring up that extra ten pounds on you.)

“At least I didn’t beat you.” (So, just tongue lashings and neglect? Got it.)

“This hurts me more than it hurts you.” (Because their feelings are all that really matter.)

“You always exaggerate. It wasn’t that bad.” (All things considered?)

“I kept food on the table and a roof over your head.” (Congratulations for doing the absolute minimum to sustain my survival when I was helpless and dependent.)

“You’re too sensitive.” (Like George Harrison sensitive? Aragorn sensitive? Alan Alda? I’m still not seeing the bad side of this.)

“You’re so dramatic.” (“You tell the truth too well.”)

“Plenty more where that came from.” (Didn’t realize Abuse Costco gave out life time memberships.)

Bonus round for that most gaslighty of gaslighting phrases, “I’m sorry you feel that way.” (Are you? Really? You don’t seem very sorry. You actually don’t seem to care at all.)

Honestly, I wish any and all of these phrases would be replaced with a simple “Eff you.” It would save so much time and have the benefit of being honest.

Do you have some fave phrases from the unhealed and anger displaced in your life or a good come back? Leave a comment, so we can share a laugh at the morally-challenged and disingenuous persons who go about with these words on their lips. After all, I’m only doing this for their own good, which is all they care about.

Namasté, you bravely healing, truth telling Legends!
